Meet Kathy Hinzman, owner of Sonrisas
She is one special lady! Kathy lives in the home with the residents and is continually engaged with them and the staff as members of her extended family. It is not uncommon for Kathy to take residents for car rides and ice cream or walks around the block. As the owner of Sonrisas, established by Kathy in 1999, she is often asked, “How long are you going to do this?”. To this Kathy says, “How do you stop doing what you love? How do you stop your passion? This is the gift God gave me and the more people I can help, the happier I am.”
OUR STORY
Nestled in the heart of friendly Verona, Wisconsin, Sonrisas Assisted Living is a family-owned, State-licensed Adult Family Home committed to providing 24-hour quality care in a home-like setting to 4 adults requiring assistance with basic needs associated with aging to memory care and, by partnering with hospice, end-of-life transitions.
The benefit of having all these levels of care available in our home is that you or your loved one doesn’t have to move should the level of care change.
Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) can include but are not limited to dressing, bathing, toileting, and personal care. In many cases it can be difficult, or even impossible for seniors to safely accomplish basic ADLs without additional support. The Sonrisas care team is highly trained and committed to enabling our residents to live more safely and comfortably.
We know that living at home is the preferred choice for most people, but when this is no longer a safe and practical option, we offer our home as the next best thing. Safe and secure with a highly trained staff and the finest amenities, Sonrisas provides families and residents with worry-free living.

OUR HOME
This state-of-the-art facility offers numerous amenities including: warm, caring, expert staff; private and semi-private rooms (two bedrooms share a bath, the master bedroom has its own private bath); free cable television connections and telephone jacks in bedrooms; pleasant dining area and living room with cable television, VCR/DVD, stereo, and gas fireplace; and an outdoor patio with a pergola and flower/garden beds.

OH THE FUN WE HAVE!
Residents at Sonrisas and their families are encouraged to participate in our many activities from daily drives to visit local farms and special places to bible study and communion, gardening in our newly installed flower and vegetable gardens, trips to the nail spa, music on the patio under the gazebo, organized activities within the Verona community and of course our festivals and pumpkin carving. There’s never a dull moment!
OUR SERVICES
Healthy living is a top priority, and we take great care to help our residents maintain and stay on top of their health. Here are some care services you’ll receive at Sonrisas Assisted Living:

An individualized service assessment where you and your care team will identify your needs, strengths and preferences and develop a custom care plan tailored specifically for you.

Nursing services, that include a licensed nurse on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week

Ongoing monitoring of residents’ health status

Nutrition monitoring, weight management and falls management

Administering Medication

Assistance with activities of daily living (eating, bathing, dressing, oral care, toileting, ambulation)

OUR CARE TEAM
We believe brightening someone’s day starts with a smile, but by being dedicated professional caregivers we can make a world of difference. We take hiring seriously, and we only employ the type of individual that we would entrust with our own loved one. The staff members of Sonrisas Assisted Living are carefully selected and thoroughly screened to ensure that our residents are cared for by qualified and compassionate professionals.
The staff receives supplemental training and continuing education in order to remain up-to-date with the latest developments regarding geriatric care. As a result, they are able to support residents with all of the essential “Activities of Daily Living” (ADLs) with which they require assistance to sustain the highest quality of life.
At Sonrisas you can expect consistency in the caregivers who serve you. Our caregivers are highly experienced, thoroughly trained to the requirements of the State of Wisconsin and personally committed to their residents. Our caregivers make up a highly diverse range of experience, skills, personalities and cultures.
Together, we will develop a care plan that will help you move toward the outcomes that you and your team identify during the assessment process. After a care plan is established, your team will help coordinate and authorize the services you need.
